Production leveling: smooth the mix and volume of work rather than letting each step run as fast as it can. A station running flat out while the next sits idle is not productive, it is building inventory and hiding problems.
Still the least understood idea in the Toyota canon, and the most relevant to agent deployments, where it is trivially easy to make one step enormously fast and thereby move the constraint into the human review queue behind it.
